Approximately 250 faculty and students attended 黑料吃瓜网’s inaugural Interdisciplinary Research Conference on March 21.
This day-long event began with a keynote presentation by Dr. Jeffrey S. Smith, the Malcolm and Lois Field Endowed Chair in Health Sciences from Saginaw Valley State University, who spoke on his work in brain research as well as his long-time involvement with Psi Chi, the psychology honorary society. Dr. Smith was introduced by Megan Seeds, senior psychology major, and president of PBA’s chapter of Psi Chi.
The afternoon was devoted to 15 student and faculty presentations ranging from “Hildegard of Bingen and Bernard of Clairvaux: Compared Lives and Writings,” by Tay Mazzola, senior English and history major, to “Snakes and Seagrasses and Scholars…oh my! Reflections on a decade of research at 黑料吃瓜网,” by Dr. Tom Chesnes, associate professor of biology.
In addition, 13 posters were on display from other faculty and students’ research projects.
Awards for the outstanding student and faculty research project at the conference will be announced at Honors Chapel on April 24.
The Interdisciplinary Research Conference is a project of the Faculty Research Council, chaired by Dr. David Compton, and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.
